Lya Jordan, president, called the meeting to order at 12:05.  Jim Parks provided the invocation giving thanks for many blessings in this Thanksgiving season.  The Pledge was given.  With great solemnity, the group sang “Albuquerque, He’s My Turkey,” a tradition for the Rotary Club of Las Cruces.

The regular meeting of the Las Cruces Rotary was opened at 12.10 by Lya Jordan, president.  Steve Loman gave the invocation and John Pickett led the singing of “God Bless America”.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  The following guests were introduced:  Dan Jones from the Marietta, Ohio, club;  Bill Barker, guest of Jim Maxon;  Judy Jones, sister of Sue Groth;  David Medina, guest of Daniel Payne.  A visiting International Exchange Student Kyla Myers was present as were student guests Eva Perez and Jenisa Tilley.  Don Dresp was the mystery greeter for the Meet and Greet.

President Lya Jordan called the meeting to order; Jim Parks provided the invocation; the pledge was given; and John Pickett led the group in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in honor of the World Series.  November birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and club anniversaries were read and the group sang “Happy Birthday.”

Guests were introduced.  John Davis was with his grandfather Bobby Rankin.  Marci Dickerson and Sumer Rose-Nolan were here for the program.  Eva Perez, from LCHS, was welcomed.

Jeff Brown, a past-president returning to our club, was presented with his blue badge by Lya.  Welcome back, Jeff.

President Lya rang the bell about 10 minutes past noon.  She invited Steve Loman to give the invocation.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Fran distributed: “Ghost Riders in the Sky.”  She and Charlotte led us in singing it.  President Lya introduced the visiting Rotarians and asked Rotarians with guests to introduce them.  President Lya in

Rotarians and guests were enjoying a tasty La Posta lunch with fajitas and extra spicy red enchiladas when “time to call the meeting to order” rolled around.  President Lya rang the bell and asked Ana to give the invocation.  President Lya led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Fran distributed a song entitled: “The Thing” from her Wacky, Weird & Wonderful Songbook.  The song was definitely “wacky and weird;” however, the group, with lots of help from Fran, Charlotte and Patty, sang it well (at least in the opinion of this author!)  President Lya introduced the visiting Rotarians, guests of Rotarians and our high school student guest.  There was a lively “meet and greet.”  Charlotte was named the mystery greeter.  Those who did not greet her were fined!

President Lya waited until exactly 10 minutes past noon to loudly ring the bell and call the meeting to order.  President Elect Kristi gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Patty distributed the song: “Hey Good Lookin’” by Hank Williams written in 1951.  Patty played the piano and Fran led the singing.  Considering their collective talent, the Rotarians and their guests did a remarkably good job.  Our two visiting Rotarians from Ohio were introduced as were guests of Rotarians and the Oñate high school student guest.  The introductions were followed by a lively “meet and greet” which halted only after a number of rings of the bell.

At about 10 minutes past noon President Lya called the meeting to order.  President Elect Kristi gave an invocation appropriate to these troubled times.  The invocation was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Patty is listed as the “song leader” for the month of October, but forgot to check the schedule.  She was prepared to lead us in singing “Happy Birthday” to our Rotarians whose birthdays are in October.  President Lya wished each a very happy birthday.  Club anniversaries and wedding anniversaries for October were also recognized.  There were two visiting Rotarians from Marietta, Ohio.  They have visited several times last year.  Club Banners were exchanged.  Guests of Rotarians and high school student guests were introduced.

President-elect Kristi Granados called the meeting to order at 12:15. John Pickett gave the invocation. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Earl Phillips led the members in singing “God Bless America.” Wanda & Kristi followed by leading us in singing “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad.”  Our high school guests mainly listened to us as they were not familiar with the song. Our guests were introduced by Kristi and then we followed with Meet & Greet. We had no visiting Rotarians, but had 5 guests of the club.

Although they came for lunch, President Lya Jordan and Jay headed for a long trip before the meeting began, so President-elect Kristi Granados presided.  After Lyn Ames’ invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, past president Wanda Mattiace introduced Cheryl Fallstead and Chas Miller from the Las Cruces Ukes to lead the song with their ukuleles.  They led us in singing “When You’re Smiling (The Whole World Smiles with You),” then gave an encore at Jim Scott’s request, “Hey Good Lookin’” by Hank Williams.

President Lya called the meeting to order at a quarter past noon. Steve Loman gave the invocation. President Lya then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. There was no song today as our pianist, Fran took a nasty fall and injured her leg. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Steve introduced our guest, the head of the Las Cruces Police Department Traffic Unit: Lt. Kiri Daines. Our Rotary Club presented the Traffic Unit of the Las Cruces Police Department 16 bulletproof Kevlar clipboards to provide face and neck protection to Officers in the field last Thursday, September 7. Lt. Daines thanked the club members for their generous support of the Las Cruces area law enforcement personnel.
