Due to technical issues, there was no Spokes and Cogs reporting on the May 4 meeting.  Following is a news release about the event.

Club president, Richelle Ponder rang the bell to open the meeting. Harry Hansen gave the invocation. Richelle then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Paul Comeau led the club in singing “My Country Tis of Thee.” Next, we greeted one another and learned later that Dave Lemen was the mystery greeter. We had no guests of Rotarians.

2011-04-20, Dean Anderson, USDA Jornada Experimental Range

Club president, Richelle Ponder rang the bell to open the meeting. Jim Parks, just returning from an RV trip, gave the invocation. Richelle then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Ross Ramsey led the club in singing “Good Old Summertime.” Afterwards, Ross explained what “totsie-wotsie” refers to. If you weren’t here last week, talk to Ross. You’ll get a kick out of it (pun intended).

2011-03-30, Danise Coon, NMSU Chile Pepper Institute

At 12:10 PM, the melodious sound of the bell signaled the start of the fifth meeting in March. Ivan Stubbs gave the invocation and President Richelle Ponder led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Feeling the sunny days, Paul Comeau lead us “Oh What a Beautiful Morning”. The usual meet and greet followed. It was later announced that Jay Jordan was the Mystery Greeter.

2011-03-23, Mike Taylor, Camino Real Historic Trail

At 12:08 ½ PM, our bell ringer in-chief, President Richelle Ponder, dinged the donger and declared the meeting to order. She started by introducing herself as the “Program Chair” but quickly realized she was really our illustrious and exalted president instead. Bruce Darrington gave the invocation and President Richelle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jim Maxon was again song leader and still being full of the Irish spirit, led us in “I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover” which started out strong, faded in the middle, and ended with gusto.

2011-03-16, Four Way Test Essay Contest Winners

At 12:06PM, our chief bell ringer, President Richelle Ponder, hit the bell with the newly repaired gavel giving out a nice "dong."  She noted the early start was due to a busy agenda, plus Peggy had run out of dessert.  Ivan Stubbs gave the invocation and President Richelle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Jim Maxon was again song leader and being full of Irish spirit, led us in two songs, "My Wild Irish Rose" and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling."  The songs fit right in with our lunch of corned beef and cabbage.

2011-03-09, NMSU Police Chief Jaime Chavez, Dynamics of Human Confrontation

At 12:08:30PM, President Richelle Ponder hit the bell creating a “dink” instead of a “dong.” Turns out she broke the gavel last week (fortunately Curt Coleman ducked in time to avoid the flying head) and it wasn’t fixed yet. With that explanation, she called the meeting to order. Bill Wheeler gave the invocation in the absence of Ivan Stubbs and President Richelle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jim Maxon was again song leader and did a good job leading us in “Home On The Range.” Last week it was “Don’t Fence Me In”… Jim must like the wide open spaces.

2011-03-02, Dave Driscoll and Lorraine Huit, Rotary Youth Exchange

At 12:10PM, President Richelle Ponder called the meeting to order. Ivan Stubbs gave the invocation and President Richelle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jim Maxon was song leader and did a good job leading us in “Don’t Fence Me In”…except for the fast parts. President Richelle asked the group to give our pianist, Anita Blackburn, a round of applause for the great music and another jolly meet and greet followed. Rick Jackson was the “Mystery Greeter”.
