Don’t Meth With UsChair Barry Fisher

  • Members:  Fran Boldt, Richelle Ponder, Charles Townley
  • The Don’t Meth With Us project is modeled closely on a project of the San Juan Rotary Club in Farmington discussed in a recent issue of The Rotarian.  It is a joint effort of the Las Cruces and Rio Grande Rotary clubs to bring presentations about the harmful effects of methamphetamine use to schoolchildren. 

Great Day of ServiceChair John Pickett

  • This committee leads the club in projects to benefit the local community.  It has been generally scheduled in the spring of the year, and varies annually at the discretion of the current board of directors.  

International Activities, Chair TBD

  • Members:  Jim Maxon, Cornell Menking, Ted Shelton, Charles Townley
  • This committee invites international student guests to attend weekly Rotary meetings, meet club members, and inform the club about their backgrounds and interests.  It coordinates our club's participation in the Rotary NMSU International Student Picnic each fall, and in having programs featuring international topics.  

Literacy, Chair Mark Santiago

  • Members:  Don Dresp, Earl Phillips
  • The literacy committee works to increase awareness of opportunities to support and encourage literacy organizations in the area and to educate members concerning literacy issues, both among youth and adults. 

Taste of Las CrucesChair TBD

  • Members:  Wendy Clarke, Patty Groth, Rynni Henderson, Kaitlyn Ponder, Richelle Ponder
  • The Taste of Las Cruces event raises funds to support designated charities by bringing the community together to sample the wares of many local restaurateurs.  Originally a project of the Rotary Club of Las Cruces, it has now grown to include the other two local clubs.  The 2016 event, was held at the Las Cruces Convention Center on June 2, bringing together over 300 people to support Casa de Peregrinos and the Roadrunner Food Bank.
